Session 11 Recap – Two Kinds of Possession
It wasn't a person on the ground. It was already gone before it was ever there.
Session 11 was one fight, start to finish — and by the end of it, two members of the party weren't entirely themselves.
The Warp Witches
The party came upon the Warp Witches and found themselves in one of the hardest fights they've faced. Before the battle was over, both witches had turned the fight against the party in ways no one fully saw coming.

A Mind Turned Against Itself
During the encounter, Six's Drakkenheim madness surfaced in the worst possible moment. He looked at the Warp Witches and didn't see monsters — he saw citizens. People who needed protecting, not fighting. He would not raise a hand against them.
The delusion held until the first witch finally went down. Six watched it die — and watched it die as a ghost, not a person, the illusion of humanity falling away with it. Whatever the madness had convinced him of, it couldn't survive that. He understood, finally and completely, what the party was actually fighting.
Possessed
The second witch had already taken Tough Luck. Whatever it did to get inside him, it held on hard, and the party couldn't land enough damage to break its grip on their own.
Katja Braun — the party's own prisoner since the fight outside the Chapel — was still bound and traveling with them when the Warp Witches struck. Toward the end of the encounter, Six freed her. She didn't hesitate to help. Katja cast hold person on Tough Luck, locking him in place long enough for the party to finally do what they needed to: they beat him down to unconsciousness, drove the Warp Witch out of him, and destroyed it before it could take anyone else.
What Was Carried Out
Bruised, contaminated, and thoroughly beaten, the party retreated to Emberwood.
Collected: 2× Undead Animus, Ectoplasm, Hair, Undead Dust (Uncommon tier)
Contamination gained:
- Tough Luck — 2 levels
- Six — 1 level
The rest of the party came out of it worse for wear, if not contaminated outright.
NPCs Encountered
- The Warp Witches — both fought and destroyed. One possessed Tough Luck for the better part of the fight.
- Katja Braun — the party's prisoner since the Chapel, freed by Six mid-battle, and returned the favor by locking Tough Luck down with hold person at the critical moment.
Loose Threads
- Tough Luck's two levels of contamination and Six's one level are still unaddressed as of the retreat to Emberwood.
- Katja Braun was the party's prisoner and is no longer bound. What that means going forward — gratitude, opportunity, or something else — is unresolved.
- Six's Drakkenheim madness broke under the weight of watching the truth of what he was fighting. Whether that's the end of it, or just this episode of it, remains to be seen.
Next Session
Battered and short on answers, the party made for Emberwood to lick their wounds — see Session 12 – Balances Struck for what came after.
